  Will be very interested to how Riviera's management respond to this. If you read other negative reviews on Trip Advisor they usually respond in a patronising, and quite frankly rude, manner. I laughed when I saw them actually picked on a reviewer's typo!

  We then went to Suenami, a lovely place down the road and very family friendly. It was quite busy with locals and some people at the table next to us overheard us and said that the attitude of the place is getting worse and their prices are rising in line with their attitude. We loved Suenami, we even went back for lunch the next day on our way to Devenport.

  Owners doing a great job refurbishing the old hotel, also friendly and helpful. Luxurious, relaxed feel in dining area. Food, service and staff EXCELLENT. Beautiful outlook over the water.

  Booked my family on our last night in Tasmania for a treat. Arrived at 530 to a dining room with only 1 other family. When we arrived I told them of our reservation, to which we were told that we were the only booking and then seated at a centre table. Seeing 2 small tables near the window which could easily be joined so we would actually see the view I asked if we could sit there - to which I was told No, "we might have other people coming in later" - My first gripe - what makes other people (who might come in) more important then us?!?!

  We were reminded of the restaurant's policy that children to stay seated with their parents - no problem - that is what mine do. When we were waiting to order 2 of my kids (who are in their school's chess team) went to play at a table with a set up chess board (right next to where we were seated - reminder this is an almost empty restaurant), to which the waitress bustled over to remind us that children to stay with parents. We reseated them with us and then brought the chess board over to us to play whilst waiting (she had not been over to take our order - just to discipline us). She then came over to tell us that the chess board is only for adults and promptly removed it from us. That was enough, we up and left (Have never done this before). Our children were well behaved (although they were quite miffed by the way we were treated), they go out often to restaurants and we have NEVER been treated anywhere near this badly. Definitely not what I expected rural Tasmania!
